Kenneth (Ken) Labs in his relatively short life span was a leading proponent of energy-efficient underground structures for commercial, industrial and housing applications. Ken's 1975 thesis presented for his Masters of Architecture at Washington University was a landmark piece on the subject. He self-published it and sent it around the world at cost to promote underground building. It has been reformatted, and you can download it here!
